Despite the devastating impact the earthquake of 22nd February 2011 has had on Christchurch, the Society decided to continue with the Festival of Arts this year because we strongly believed that the young people of Canterbury and beyond needed to have a platform to perform and compete in the Arts.
We believe that the Arts provide motivation and inspiration for the community and we will strive to give to the young people of Canterbury an opportunity to turn tragedy into inspiration.
Many of our previous entrants have continued to forge successful careers in the arts here in New Zealand and abroad.
Entering these competitions are a valuable stepping stone towards a career in the performing arts and without the invaluable assistance of our sponsors, volunteers and friends the Competitions would not be possible.
We wish to thank our competitors, families, and friends for their continued support and we look forward to yet another successful year.
We also wish to thank the following organisations for providing much needed grants for the Society this year, and for their valued support.
