About The Adjudicators
The invitation to adjudicate at the Christchurch Competitions Society’s annual competitions has been accepted with much pleasure.
My association with the Society goes back many years when I first competed in the under 8 section (there were no 6 and under classes in the 1950”s)
Many enjoyable years were subsequently spent competing and performing at the demonstration concerts which were held during those years.
After a break from the Highland Dancing world, I have returned, resat all of my examinations and have now been reinstated on the national judges list.
I am very much looking forward to being a part of the competition environment again.
Jolie Hazley NZAHND
From Invercargill. I started dancing at 5 years old and have had many adventures along the way. I danced in many concerts around Southland as well as Tattoos in New Zealand, Scotland, South Korea, Canada and Germany. While I retired from competitive dancing many years ago I still regularly put my dancing shoes on and dance for various occasions.
Silver Thistle Dance is my dance school and I have 18 pupils ranging from 5 to 23 years old and also help mentor a pupil in her mid-forties who is trying to complete her exams.
As well as teaching I work for the Department of Conservation as a Biodiversity Ranger in Pest Plant Control. I love tramping and am a Land Search and Rescue volunteer. I am a Mum to my 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son, and have a great husband that supports all my dancing ventures.
I am very excited to be judging today as really enjoy seeing new steps and dancers excelling in their passion of dance.
